The Creed: What Christians Believe

with Father Matt Rader

Imagine a world where Christianity was often misunderstood. Where people followed a distorted version of Jesus,
one that denied his divine nature.

That’s exactly what was happening in the fourth century, when a priest named Arius denied that Jesus was truly God.
His ideas spread quickly, dividing the early Church and threatening the core of Christian belief.
To stop this, bishops from around the Christian world met at the Council of Nicaea to clarify the truth.

The result? The Nicene Creed.

Every Sunday during Mass, we recite the Nicene Creed.
But do we really understand what we are saying?

As the Church celebrates the 1700th anniversary this fundamental statement of the Christian Faith,
join us for an 8-week series: What Christians Believe on Thursdays 7:00-8:30
starting September 25. Click below to save your seat!
